7 LAGOONS TOUR - AUSANGATE

The set of lagoons that make up this tourist attraction are fed by the thaw of the immense Ausangate snow-capped mountain, the highest in Cusco (whose summit reaches 6,384 meters above sea level). The residents decided to take advantage of the natural beauty of the place to create a circuit of 7 lagoons that are: the Pucacocha lagoon, the Patacocha lagoon, the Alqacocha lagoon, the Qomercocha lagoon, the orco otorongo lagoon, the Chinese otorongo lagoon and the blue lake lagoon.

Our trip will start at 4 am. approximately for an average of 3 hours to Pacchanta. This place is located at 4200 meters above sea level and passes through the town of Tinke. This means that the temperatures will be lower than those of Cusco itself. Once in Pacchanta we will taste our breakfast. After breakfast and a short rest, we will start our walk towards the lagoons of the Ausangate region. The walk will be approximately 5 hours and will take us along the path where we will see the different lagoons such as Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha and Q’omercocha. That is not the only remarkable thing, we will also see the snowy peaks that surround this area. Among them are Ausangate (6834 m.), Mariposa (5842 m.), Jampa (5500 m.), Pucapunta (5740 m.), Caracol (5625 m.), Tinke (5300 m.) And the entire mountain range of Qayangate. This area is located in the Andean region, which means that the climate is changeable. It can be expected from low temperatures to the impact of the sun. On the way we will have the opportunity to see the flora and fauna. From different types of birds to vicuñas and llamas. The views are impressive, and you will have the opportunity to visit all the different lagoons while returning the same way. The return will be easier and faster walking back to Pacchanta. Once you get to the beginning of the trail, we will taste our lunch. Pacchanta has a series of hot springs that you can use to relax and comfort your aching muscles. This water is naturally warm and will be the perfect ending after a long hike. You will be able to enjoy this before lunch and then recover while enjoying a great meal prepared for you. Once lunch is finished, we will take our transportation back to Cusco and to your hotel to take a well-deserved rest.
